Falling Joys is an Australian alternative rock band formed in Canberra in 1985. They were composed of lead singer Suzie Higgie, guitarist Stuart G. Robertson, bass guitarist and vocalist Pat Hayes, and drummer Pete Velzen. They frequently played at the ANU’s refectory bar, and supported international touring acts, including, in 1989, The Buzzcocks. Towards the end of the band’s life, Velzen was replaced by Jason Morrisby on the recording of one EP (Universal Mind).

The idea for Madam Kali was born mid 2009 when Brigitte finally embarked upon a long envisaged journey to India. Prior to her departure she was working hard in her own Alternative Health business practicing Holistic Counselling, Massage & Kinesiology. The nature of her healing work required that she give a lot of herself to others yet her own being was desperately in need of attention and nurture.

Architect Ivan Rijavic wanted to create something worlds apart from the gaudiesque type creations of his previous commercial projects. He instead created this remarkably clean cut lined, and understated loft that carries you effortlessly around its many levels of open planned and secluded rooms, all of which harmoniously interact.

Ivan Rajavic stands as one of Australia’s most controversial and influential architects. This property soars high over five levels to a living space that is truly spectacular and unabashed. A simple ladder leading up through the top levels manhole takes you to the most awe inspiring 360 degree views. Turn slowly around and take in the panorama from another perspective: Melbourne Museum, the city skyline drawn with mirror and glass towers, the Pelaco sign with the Dandenongs beyond, the clock tower of Fitzroy Town Hall at eye level and the shingled turret of the Perseverance Hotel across the road . . .

The FITZROY RESIDENTS’ ASSOCIATION is a community organisation first formed in 1969 in response to the planned large scale demolition by the state government of Fitzroy and North Fitzroy for redevelopment. FRA aimed to maintain and renew the 19th century housing stock and associated architecture of Melbourne’s first suburb. After largely, but not entirely, winning this battle FRA was very influential with the Fitzroy City Council through to the early 80s on many policy fronts.

The objective of the FRA is simple: to keep Fitzroy liveable.
